Number 12: High Court delivers fresh ruling on Anas vs Nyantakyi legal battle.

An open court ruling by the High Court mandates investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas to provide testimony against the ex-president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwasi Nyantakyi.

However, the renowned media practitioner will maintain his distinctive mask as a disguise. Mr. Nyantakyi, on the other hand, will be granted the opportunity to privately view Anas Aremeyaw Anas's uncovered face before the testimony. This decision was made by the court in response to a request made by Mr. Nyantakyi's lawyers. They had sought permission to privately see the true identity of Anas Aremeyaw Anas during the proceedings.

The ruling pertains to the criminal trial of the former football administrator, stemming from the documentary known as "Number 12," which aimed to uncover corruption within Ghanaian football.

The court emphasized that, in the interest of justice, individuals facing potential loss of freedom should be provided with necessary resources to defend themselves. It recognized Anas as a key witness in determining the case, underscoring the importance of his identity being revealed to enable the accused to identify him and mount an effective defense.

The court also noted that Anas had previously appeared in public wearing his iconic mask during interactions with the media, indicating his comfort with publicly disguising his face. Consequently, the court issued specific orders outlining the course of the proceedings.

“Investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas will testify against former GFA President Kwasi Nyantakyi in open court but disguised in a mask

“Mr. Nyantakyi will however have the opportunity to see his face in chambers before such testimony.”

This is getting interesting, isn't it?
