3 Ghanaians arrested for allegedly planning to launch a coup in Ghana.

The Western Regional Police Command has initiated legal proceedings against three individuals apprehended in Diabene, Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis, Ghana.

These individuals are under suspicion of having affiliations with Russia's Wagner mercenary group, officially known as PMC Wagner, a Russian state-funded private military company.

The arrests stemmed from a public gathering organized by these three individuals, during which they prominently displayed the flags of Wagner and Russia.

The suspects have been identified as Evans (25 years old), Michael Asiedu (23 years old), and Ernest Asiedu (26 years old).

With alleged support from a sponsor in Australia, the trio mobilized approximately 20 young individuals with the intention of establishing a military group in the Diabene community park. Subsequently, the police apprehended them following a tip-off.

Ramatu Ibrahim, the Assemblywoman of Fijai responsible for Diabene, confirmed the incident and expressed her astonishment, calling for their prosecution.

According to her, the police reported that, following their arrest and interrogation, the three individuals claimed to be conducting a freedom demonstration and training for potential government resistance. They raised various flags representing different countries and played national anthems.

Their influential leader is currently abroad, while the leader in Ghana is 25 years old. After the police explained the implications of their actions, they reportedly came to realize the seriousness of the situation. It was also learned that they had been promised financial incentives if their planned actions were successful.
