Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, an aspirant for the flagbearer position of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has affirmed his intention to participate in the November primaries. The Member of Parliament for Assin Central expressed his determination not to withdraw from the race in favor of any other candidate.
In a video sighted by YEN AFRIK, Kennedy Agyapong emphasized that the unity of the NPP for the 2024 general elections hinges on how the flagbearer primaries are conducted.
He stated, "I am not going to step down for anybody; when you win, then you win. So, all of us, if we have to come together, then we come together. But coming together will depend on how we will conduct this November 4th election because how they treated all of us on the 26th, I think it is not proper."
Kennedy will be vying for the flagbearer position along with three other contenders, including Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and Addai-Nimoh. The NPP has scheduled November 4, 2023, to select a successor to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the party's leader.
Earlier, Kennedy Agyapong's campaign team debunked rumors of his withdrawal from the race. In a statement issued on Thursday, September 7, the team clarified that Kennedy Agyapong is firmly committed to staying in the competition and has never contemplated withdrawing.
