Court orders sale of Michael Essien’s houses.

According to a report by Daily Guide, Michael Essien’s two homes in East Legon and Trassaco are headed for auction.

The Deputy Sheriff of the High Court (Commercial Division) issued the sale order on June 12, 2024. The properties are located at Stephen Quarshie Crescent, East Legon (House Number 9), and Trassaco (Phase 2), Adjiringano (House Number 204/205) in Accra.

An anonymous auctioneer revealed that one of the properties is valued between $20 million and $30 million.

Although the specifics of the court proceedings are not entirely clear, a report by Kickgh.com suggests that the former Chelsea star has been struggling with financial problems, including unpaid loans.

Essien started his football career in France with Bastia before moving to Olympique Lyonnais, where his impressive performances caught the eye of Chelsea. At Chelsea, he became one of the highest-paid players in the Premier League, winning multiple Premier League titles and a UEFA Champions League trophy.

After Chelsea, Essien played for renowned clubs like Real Madrid and AC Milan, earning global recognition for his skills in midfield.

Since retiring, Essien, now an assistant coach at Danish side FC Nordsjaelland, has faced challenges in his business and investment ventures, despite his substantial earnings during his playing career.
